Haiti earthquake 2010 financial donations

Lutheran World Relief suggests that financial donations are strongly preferred over any other kind of donation. Thrivent members' donations to LWR will be matched. Please visit www.lutheranworldrelief.org for more information.

Please post to this blog if your congregation or community is hosting a fundraiser for Haiti so that others interested might be able to participate or contribute.

Haiti response 2010 volunteering

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) notes that due to the instability of the current situation in Haiti, volunteers may not be needed for six months or more. If you are interested in keeping posted on volunteer opportunities when they arise, please contact Linda Frey, the LDR-SEPA workteam coordinator at lwfrey@epix.net.

For information about what Lutheran World Relief is doing in partnership with staff and community who were already on the ground when the earthquake hit, visit www.lutheranworldrelief.org.

Other volunteer opportunities may be available through other response groups. Please post to this blog if you hear of volunteer response opportunities in Haiti.

Haiti earthquake 2010

Lutherans are responding in many ways to the earthquake in Haiti. There have been a number of congregations that have indicated an interest in sending teams to Haiti to volunteer. While only very specialized and previously trained volunteer teams are responding now through the wider faith network, there are congregations thinking about how to respond in the future. I will do my best to share information I hear about in this regard as I receive it, and would like you to share what you discover as opportunities as well.

To help us share information and best use resources, please share what your congregation or community is doing as part of the specific response areas below. These areas include fundraising, health kit collections, and volunteering.
